Grandma's Birthday

We were lucky enough to celebrate my mom's birthday with her this year, as it fell during the time she was here helping with Creegan.
Eddie went grocery shopping with Daddy and picked out a present for Grandma. It was a yogurt with M&Ms in it.
Peter wrapped Grandma a can of her favorite drink, Mountain Dew.
Eddie and Peter helped Grandma open her presents.
We made a cake, too.

Happy birthday, Mom! I am so happy we got to celebrate with you!!!

Creegan, Week One

On October 28 (12 days early), my water broke at 5 a.m. I called a friend to pick up the kids and got ready to go. At 5:30 I began to feel a lot of pressure. By 5:45 I was having contractions. We checked in at the hospital at 5:55 and waited in the waiting room for 5-10 min. I got changed into the gown, and my midwife checked me. I was dilated to an 8 (I'd been at a 2 at my appt the day before). I asked if I'd have time for an epidural. She said yes if I didn't go too fast. She stepped out of the room, and I began a contraction that made me feel I needed to push. They ran my bed into the labor and delivery room. Between contractions I rolled onto the bed in the l & d room. Within five TERRIBLE minutes, Creegan was out. He was born at 6:28 a.m.
He weighed 7 lb 11 oz.

We went home on Sat, Oct 30.
Peter grew so big!
We went trick-or-treating.
Creegan wore a pumpkin hat.
Creegan got really yellow.
He was admitted to the hospital on Tues, Nov 2, for jaundice treatment.
I wasn't allowed to breastfeed him, which broke my heart, cuz he was a natural breastfeeder. E & P loved feeding him, though.
C met Grandma and Grandpa.
Creegan and I came home from the hospital on Thurs, Nov 4.

It was a big first week! We love our Creegan!

Havana Pumpkin Festival

The highlights of the pumpkin festival were the firetruck,wearing real oxygen masks

and real fireman hats,
and the train ride!

Ben's Birthday Cake

Ben turned 32 on October 7. On Thursday, the morning of his birthday, he opened seven presents, two of which were legitimate (the rest were toys Eddie had had me wrap). On Friday night Ben and I went out on a birthday date. This was the first time we've gone on a date for one of our birthdays. This was also the first time since having children that we went to both dinner and a movie on a date (although we didn't take the time to go to a real restaurant; we got chinese to go). On Sunday we made a special birthday dinner and cake. Ben once again selected an applesauce cake recipe he found online; he always wants applesauce cake like his grandma used to make. The problem is no one knows her recipe. This was the best applesauce cake we've made, but it wasn't great. Apparently it wasn't like grandma's. These are the only birthday pictures we took this year. Happy birthday, Ben! We love you!
